In-Network Vs. Out-of-Network Dental Insurance

In-Network Dental Insurance

Most insurance companies, if not all insurance companies, have a list of participating providers that they have contracted with. There is a mutual benefit for the insurance company and the dental practice, and even the patients.

Out-of-Network Dental Insurance

Out-of-network just means that a provider is not on that list. It doesn’t mean that you’re not covered there; it just means they have not contracted with that insurance company to accept certain fees and reimbursement rates from that insurance company.

Is There a Way to Know Exactly How Much My Dental Insurance Will Pay?

If you go to an office that is a participating provider, they provide you with a list of all their allowances. Being an out-of-network provider, you don’t get that secret list. There are many things that we do and many things that we can do to get that number as close as possible.
