There are a lot of small, mindless things that people often do that can really have a huge image on your teeth. So, we thought we would hop on the blog this week to discuss some of those habits and how they can damage your teeth.

Chewing Ice

Ice can just crack a tooth in a heartbeat. It’s cold, it’s super hard, and it can cause so much damage very, very quickly.

Holding Things in Your Teeth

Holding or biting on things that are hard like bottle tops, needles, wire, etc. Opening a bag of snacks with your teeth, ripping a tag or price tag off of clothes, anything like that can damage your teeth.

Biting Nails

Even though your nails aren’t that tough, biting your nails can also damage your teeth.

Grinding or Clenching Teeth

This can cause fractures and damage the teeth. If you notice you grind or clench, we recommend using a bite guard at night or whenever you notice you’re grinding.

Most of these things that happen are not huge, damaging things to your teeth, or causing lots of pain, but they can be a real nuisance, especially if it is a front tooth where it’s cosmetics involved.
