Crown and Fillings FAQ

If you ever lose a crown or a filling, it is not an emergency, but it is important to schedule an appointment soon so that we can check out the tooth and replace it. See below to learn more about what to do if you lose a crown or a filling.

What do I do if My Crown Falls Off?

If your crown falls off, make sure to hang on to it. Your tooth might be sensitive to cold, but it is no need to worry and make an emergency appointment. Give us a call and schedule a regular appointment as soon as you can, usually within a week or so.

If the tooth is without a crown for too long, your teeth might start to shift, which can lead to other problems down the road.

When you come in for your appointment, bring your crown with you. We will take a look at your tooth to make sure it is healthy before replacing the crown.

What do I do if I lose a Filling?

Similar to a crown, it might be sensitive, and we will evaluate the tooth. Likewise, you can make a regular appointment as soon as possible, and we evaluate the tooth to see why the filling fell out and replace it.
