If you have children or play a rough sport, you’ll understand that sometimes accidents happen. When accidents do happen, we end up losing a tooth or two. What should you do in these types of situations?
Unexpected Teeth Issues
Typically, we at Rockside Family Dental Care see children or teens who come in for a broken, chipped, or knocked-out tooth. Accidents happen, and we understand the panic that comes from a sudden emergency like the ones mentioned above.
Thankfully, losing a baby tooth is part of growing up, so when children lose their baby teeth or pre-teens, it’s not a bad thing! Just come into our offices as soon as you can get the tooth correctly looked at.
If the tooth is removed by accident, make sure to place the tooth in a safe location. Many patients do not know this trick, but putting your tooth in a glass of milk will help preserve the tooth.
Don’t scrub or wash the tooth, as this will cause problems for your dentist to try and put the tooth back or save the tooth later on. If you can schedule a dental appointment within thirty minutes of the tooth falling out, dentists can sometimes save the tooth and place it back into the mouth.
