Kids are always roughhousing, running around, and as we all know, that can result in an injury from time to time, especially if they are playing sports. If your child’s fall ever results in one of their teeth falling out, here is what you can do!

My Child’s Tooth Got Knocked Out! What Do I Do!?

There is no need to panic, but time is of the essence. The first thing you what to do is find the tooth, if possible. If the tooth looks clean enough, place it right back in the socket and get to the dentist right away.

Depending on the injury, we can typically reinsert the tooth as long as you can get to us within half an hour. This is an emergency appointment, so we will prioritize your appointment.

Don’t Clean the Tooth

As odd as this might sound, do not try to scrub, clean, or disinfect the tooth. The last thing you want to do is affect the roots and cells inside the tooth. This will make it harder, if not impossible, to reinsert the tooth.

Of course, if this is a baby tooth, it is not as essential to reinsert, but it is still important to try and save any tooth.
